I've always been fascinated by Marcus Aurelius's Meditations. It's one of those books everyone recommends when you're interested in philosophy or personal development. But I kept running into the same problem.

The text is incredibly dense. Written nearly 2,000 years ago by a Roman Emperor, it's filled with concepts that aren't immediately clear. I found myself reading passages multiple times, trying to understand how to apply them to daily life.

That's when I decided to build something to bridge this gap.

What I Built

Stoic Ritual is a simple web application that delivers one passage from Meditations each day, along with a clear explanation and practical applications.

How it works:

  • Each morning, you get a random passage from a curated collection of 25+ key teachings

  • AI translates the ancient philosophy into modern language

  • You receive 2-3 concrete ways to apply the wisdom today

  • The app tracks your daily streak to build consistency

Design Philosophy

The interface embodies Stoic principles: minimal, calm, and distraction-free. No push notifications, no social features, no complicated settings.

Everything is stored locally on your device. No account creation, no data collection, no tracking. This respects both your privacy and the intimate nature of philosophical reflection.
